Original 1945-1949 Dutch KNIL Registration Card – Malang

Original KNIL registration form from the 1945-1949 period, originating from the Dutch East Indies.
The form carries the number ‘93688’ and was issued by ‘De Unie’ dated ‘1905-6-’48’.
The card is completed in the name of Lie Kim Soen, with the rank ‘Chin. Soldaat eerste klasse.’ and the stambno ‘251301340’.
This KNIL card belonged to a soldier of Chinese descent. During the Indonesian War of Independence (1945–1949), a small number of soldiers of Chinese descent also served in the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL).
A passport photo of the holder is attached to the card, together with a piece of film strip.
The card bears a purple stamp of the ‘Plaatselijk Commandant Malang’.
The document bears the signature of the holder and the signature of the issuing officer, S.B. Termohlen, Res. Kapt. der Inf., with the function ‘Pl. Mil. Commandant’.

Het formulier draagt het nummer ‘93688’ en is uitgegeven door ‘De Unie’ op ‘1905-6-’48’.
De kaart is ingevuld op naam van Lie Kim Soen, met de rang ‘Chin. Soldaat eerste klasse.’ en het stambno ‘251301340’.
Deze KNIL-legitimatiekaart behoorde toe aan een militair van Chinese afkomst. Tijdens de Indonesische Onafhankelijkheidsoorlog (1945–1949) diende ook een klein aantal militairen van Chinese afkomst in het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger (KNIL).
Op de kaart is een pasfoto van de houder bevestigd, samen met een stuk filmstrip.
De kaart draagt een paarse stempel van de ‘Plaatselijk Commandant Malang’.
