Original German Army photograph from the First World War showing Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg and General Otto von Below during a visit to the front.
The photograph shows both senior German commanders seated in an open military automobile, wearing their uniforms and various decorations.
The reverse retains the original German caption titled ‘Frontbesuch des Generalstabschefs’.
According to the caption, Generalfeldmarschall von Hindenburg and Otto von Below are pictured leaving the Armee-Ober-Kommando of an army in the west.
Paul von Hindenburg became Chief of the German General Staff in 1916 and was one of Germany’s most important military leaders during World War I.
Otto von Below was a prominent German general who commanded several armies on both the Eastern and Western Fronts during the war.
The presence of both prominent German commanders makes this a particularly interesting historical photograph.
The reverse also bears the W. Meissner, Berlin SW.68, Zimmerstrasse 72-74 stamp.
The photograph is in used condition with minor traces of wear visible in the photos.
The photograph measures approximately 15 x 10.5 cm.

Originele Duitse legerfoto uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog met Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg en generaal Otto von Below tijdens een bezoek aan het front

De foto toont beide hooggeplaatste Duitse bevelhebbers zittend in een open militaire auto, gekleed in uniform en voorzien van verschillende onderscheidingen.
Op de achterzijde bevindt zich het originele Duitse bijschrift met als titel ‘Frontbesuch des Generalstabschefs’.
Volgens dit bijschrift zijn Generalfeldmarschall von Hindenburg en Otto von Below afgebeeld tijdens het verlaten van het Armee-Ober-Kommando van een leger in het westen.
Paul von Hindenburg was vanaf 1916 Chef des Generalstabes des Feldheeres en behoorde tot de belangrijkste Duitse militaire leiders van de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
Otto von Below was een vooraanstaand Duits generaal die gedurende de oorlog verschillende legercommando’s voerde aan zowel het Oost- als Westfront.
De combinatie van beide prominente Duitse bevelhebbers maakt dit een bijzonder interessante historische opname.
Op de achterzijde bevindt zich tevens de stempel van W. Meissner, Berlin SW.68, Zimmerstrasse 72-74.
De foto verkeert in gebruikte conditie met lichte gebruikssporen die op de foto’s zichtbaar zijn.
