Originele Duitse legerfoto uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog met een groep Afrikaanse militairen uit Soedan die tijdens de gevechten aan het Champagnefront in Duitse handen terechtkwamen

De opname toont meerdere militairen in verschillende uniformen, waaronder mannen met militaire hoofddeksels en een soldaat met een helm.
Volgens het originele Duitse bijschrift op de achterzijde betreft het militairen uit Soedan die betrokken waren bij de recente gevechten in de Champagne.
Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog zette Frankrijk op grote schaal koloniale troepen uit Afrika in aan het Westfront.
