Original Japanese military Type 2 Bubble Sextant from the Second World War, used for aerial navigation and astronomical positioning within the Imperial Japanese Navy and air services.
This optical navigation instrument is housed in its original wooden transport case complete with carrying strap, accessories, calibration cards and Japanese instruction papers.
The instrument features several Japanese markings and serial number 400439 on the original metal identification plate.
A Bubble Sextant was used in military aircraft where the integrated bubble served as an artificial horizon for navigational measurements during flight operations.
The set consists of black lacquered metal components, optical elements, glass parts and the original wooden storage case with fitted interior compartments.
