Original WWII German propaganda flyer Utrecht 14 May 1940 invasion of the Netherlands

Very rare original German propaganda leaflet dropped over the Netherlands in May 1940 during the German invasion.
This exceptional leaflet is addressed to the Commander in Utrecht and contains an explicit threat letter from the German Commander-in-Chief, dated 14 May 1940, stating that the Dutch defensive position at the Grebbe Line has been breached and that Utrecht will be attacked from multiple directions with the deployment of heavy armoured and air forces, including bombers and Stuka dive bombers.
The commander is urged to proceed with immediate and unconditional surrender in order to spare the city and its inhabitants the “fate of Warsaw,” with the warning that, in the event of refusal, all military means will be employed and full responsibility will rest with him.

This document is a highly confrontational and historically significant example of German psychological warfare during the May 1940 campaign.
Due to its direct address, explicit threats and precise date, this flyer is considered one of the rarest and most sought-after Dutch World War II propaganda leaflets.

Originele WWII Duitse propaganda flyer 14 mei 1940 Utrecht Invasie van Nederland 

Zeer zeldzame originele Duitse propagandaflyer die in mei 1940 boven Nederland werd uitgeworpen tijdens de Duitse inval. Dit uitzonderlijke strooibiljet is gericht aan de commandant te Utrecht en bevat een expliciete dreigbrief van de Duitse opperbevelhebber, gedateerd 14 mei 1940, waarin wordt gesteld dat de Nederlandse verdediging bij de Grebbe is doorbroken en Utrecht vanuit meerdere richtingen zal worden aangevallen met inzet van zware pantser- en luchtstrijdkrachten, waaronder bommenwerpers en Stuka’s. De commandant wordt opgeroepen tot onmiddellijke en onvoorwaardelijke overgave om de stad en haar inwoners het “lot van Warschau” te besparen, met de waarschuwing dat bij weigering alle militaire middelen zullen worden ingezet en de volledige verantwoordelijkheid bij hem zal liggen. Dit document is een bijzonder confronterend en historisch uiterst belangrijk voorbeeld van Duitse psychologische oorlogsvoering tijdens de meidagen van 1940. Door de directe adressering, expliciete dreigementen en concrete datum behoort deze flyer tot de een van de meest zeldzame en gezochte Nederlandse WOII-strooibiljetten.
