Original WWII German Polnischer Baudienst Generalgouvernement Ausweis Lublin 1942 – Edwin Chwedyk

Rare original WWII Ausweis of the ‘Polnischer Baudienst’ within the Baudienst im Generalgouvernement, originating from German-occupied Poland.
The Ausweis was issued to the Polish Edwin Chwedyk, born on 7 August 1926 in Lublin.
His profession is recorded as ‘Schlosser’, or fitter/locksmith, while his address is listed as Lublin, Chlodnastr. 11/4.
According to the document, Chwedyk served in the Baudienst from 15 October 1941 until 3 April 1942 and his position is recorded as ‘Werkmann’.
He was only 15 years old at the beginning of this recorded period of service.
Lublin is listed as both his station and Kreishauptmannschaft, while Baudienstabteilung number 1/400 is recorded on the document.
Both ‘Führung’ and ‘Leistung’ are recorded with the assessment ‘Z’.
The Ausweis was issued in Lublin on 14 September 1942 and retains the handwritten name and signature of Edwin Chwedyk.
Of particular interest is the original black-and-white identification photograph showing Chwedyk wearing a Baudienst uniform and field cap.
Several official stamps with the German eagle and swastika appear across the photograph and document and bear the inscription ‘Generalgouvernement – Der Stadthauptmann in Lublin’.
The front carries the bilingual German-Polish designation ‘Baudienst im Generalgouvernement – Polnischer Baudienst’ and ‘Ausweis über geleistete Dienstzeit’.
The Polnischer Baudienst was a labour service organized by the German occupation authorities for the Polish population of the General Government.
Young Polish men were called up for this labour service and were employed under German authority on construction and infrastructure projects among other duties.
A rare named document from occupied Lublin retaining its portrait photograph, personal details, service period, signature and multiple clearly visible official stamps.

Zeldzame originele WWII Ausweis van de ‘Polnischer Baudienst’ binnen de Baudienst im Generalgouvernement, afkomstig uit het door Duitsland bezette Polen

De Ausweis staat op naam van de Pool Edwin Chwedyk, geboren op 7 augustus 1926 in Lublin.
Als beroep wordt ‘Schlosser’, oftewel bankwerker/slotenmaker, vermeld en als woonadres staat Lublin, Chlodnastr. 11/4 genoteerd.
Volgens het document was Chwedyk van 15 oktober 1941 tot 3 april 1942 werkzaam binnen de Baudienst en wordt zijn functie vermeld als ‘Werkmann’.
Hij was bij aanvang van deze vermelde dienstperiode slechts 15 jaar oud.
Als standplaats en Kreishauptmannschaft wordt Lublin vermeld en bij de Baudienstabteilung staat nummer 1/400 genoteerd.
Het document vermeldt zowel bij ‘Führung’ als ‘Leistung’ de beoordeling ‘Z’.

De voorzijde draagt de tweetalige Duits-Poolse aanduiding ‘Baudienst im Generalgouvernement – Polnischer Baudienst’ en ‘Ausweis über geleistete Dienstzeit’.
De Polnischer Baudienst was een door de Duitse bezettingsautoriteiten georganiseerde arbeidsdienst voor de Poolse bevolking van het Generalgouvernement.
Poolse jongeren werden voor deze arbeidsdienst opgeroepen en onder Duits gezag onder andere ingezet voor bouw- en infrastructurele werkzaamheden.
Een zeldzaam persoonsgebonden document uit het bezette Lublin met pasfoto, persoonsgegevens, dienstperiode, handtekening en meerdere goed zichtbare officiële stempels.
