Original WWII German Erkennungsmarke ‘Infanterie-regiment 368’ Holland (Grebbeberg)

The regiment came in action on the 2nd of September 1939 during the invasion of Poland and fought in the area Gdansk.
On the 9th of May 1940 the regiment marched to the German-Dutch border and on 10 May they launched their attack on the Netherlands.
Without any fighting they found their way to Doetinchem and Doesburg near the IJssel river.
They encountered some weak resistance.
On the 11th of May they marched through Arnhem towards Ede.
On the next day on the 12th of May they started the attack on the Grebbelinie on the west part of Ede on the road to Utrecht. During these fightings Major Knobeldorf was killed in action.
After the fightings on the Grebbeberg the regiment fought their way to western part of the Netherlands.
In 1941 the regiment was a reinforcement unit for the 281 sicherungs division and fought in Russia during Operation Barbarossa.

Originele WWII Duitse Erkennungsmarke ‘Infanterie-regiment 368’ Holland (Grebbeberg) 

De Erkennungsmarke is in een gebruikte staat en heeft een interessante geschiedenis.
Het regiment kwam in actie op 2 september 1939 in tijdens de invasie van Polen en vocht in de regio van Gdansk.
Op 9 mei 1940 marcheerde het regiment zich naar de Duits-Nederlandse grens en op 10 mei begon hun offensief tijdens Fall Gelb in Nederland.
Zonder enige weerstand bereikte het regiment Doetinchem en Doesburg tot aan de rivier de IJssel.
Ze ondervonden een aantal kleine gevechten.
Op 11 mei 1940 vervolgden zij hun route naar Ede via Arnhem.
De volgende dag op 12 mei ging het regiment vol in de aanval op de Grebbelinie ten westen van Ede op de weg naar Utrecht.
Hevige gevechten met de Hollandse soldaten braken uit en Majoor Knobeldorf kwam in de strijd om leven.
Na deze gevechten ging men door richting het westen van Nederland.
In 1941 werd het regiment een versterkings eenheid voor de  281ste sicherungs division en vocht in Rusland tijdens operatie Barbarossa.
