Original WWII German Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer certificate from the town of Riesa

This German certificate is in good condition and belonged to a German veteran from the town of Riesa who was awarded the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer on May 10, 1935.

The Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer (Honor Cross for Frontline Soldiers) was established in 1934 by German President Paul von Hindenburg. The medal was intended as a tribute to German veterans who had served on the front lines during World War I. It was the first official German war commemorative medal after 1918 and was often informally referred to as the “Hindenburg Cross.”
The medal features a brown iron cross with swords (for combatants), with the years 1914–1918 in the center.
The Ehrenkreuz was awarded to millions of veterans and symbolized recognition of their service and sacrifice during the Great War.

Originele WWII Duitse Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer oorkonde uit de plaats Riesa

Het Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer (Erekruis voor Frontsoldaten) werd in 1934 ingesteld door de Duitse president Paul von Hindenburg. De medaille was bedoeld als eerbetoon aan Duitse veteranen die tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog aan het front hadden gediend.
Het was de eerste officiële Duitse oorlogsherdenkingsmedaille na 1918 en werd vaak informeel ook wel “Hindenburgkreuz” genoemd.
De medaille toont een bruin-ijzeren kruis met zwaarden (voor strijdende soldaten), met in het midden de jaartallen 1914–1918.
Het Ehrenkreuz werd aan miljoenen veteranen uitgereikt en symboliseerde erkenning van hun dienst en opoffering tijdens de Grote Oorlog.
