Original WWII Dutch NSB letter with Anton van Vessem signature

This Dutch NSB document is in good condition, dated May 10, 1941 and contains the signature of Anton van Vessem.
Anton van Vessem was a Dutch lawyer and attorney as well as a National Socialist politician and was born on in Rotterdam on Oct. 15, 1887.

Around 1925-1927 he came into contact with Anton Mussert, who was then making a name for himself with an action against a draft treaty with Belgium. Van Vessem served on the Utrecht city council for the Freedom Union (later called the Liberal State Party) from 1928 to 1931. From the founding of Mussert’s National Socialist Movement (NSB) in December 1931, Van Vessem acted as counsel for Mussert, for the NSB, or for NSB members in case of legal matters. In 1935, he became a member of the NSB. He also became a member of the Senate for the NSB.

‘Comrade,
In reply to your letter dated 8 December, I inform you that the entertainment tax is determined by each municipality individually. In connection with this, the criteria whether a meeting falls under the tax are also not the same in all municipalities. It is therefore always necessary to find out about the municipal regulations in the relevant municipality. Usually, a political meeting is not considered to be covered by the entertainment tax if the musical part is only a small part of the program. Hou Zee!’

Originele WWII Nederlandse NSB brief met Anton van Vessem handtekening 

Dit Nederlandse NSB document is in goede conditie, dateert van 10 mei 1941 en bevat de handtekening van Anton van Vessem.
Anton van Vessem was een Nederlands advocaat en procureur alsook een nationaalsocialistisch politicus en werd geboren op in Rotterdam op 15 oktober 1887.

Rond 1925-1927 kwam hij in contact met Anton Mussert, die toen naam maakte met een actie tegen een ontwerp-verdrag met België. Van Vessem had van 1928 tot 1931 voor de Vrijheidsbond (later de Liberale Staatspartij genaamd) zitting in de Utrechtse gemeenteraad. Vanaf de oprichting van Musserts Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB) in december 1931 trad Van Vessem op als raadsman van Mussert, van de NSB, of van NSB-leden in geval van juridische zaken. In 1935 werd hij lid van de NSB. Hij werd ook lid van de Eerste Kamer voor de NSB.

‘Kameraad,
In antwoordt op Uw schrijven d.d. 8 dezer deel ik U mede, dat de vermakelijkheidsbelasting door elke gemeente afzonderlijk wordt vastgesteld. In verband hiermede zijn ook de criteria of een vergadering onder de belasting valt niet in alle gemeenten dezelfde. Men moet zich dus steeds van de gemeenteverordening in de betreffende gemeente op de hoogte stellen. Gewoonlijk wordt een politieke vergadering niet geacht onder de vermakelijkheidsbelasting te vallen, indien het muzikale gedeelte slechts een klein onderdeel van het program vormt. Hou Zee!’
