Original WWII Allied Greek-language propaganda leaflet

This original Allied propaganda leaflet in Greek, titled “Η ΕΠΙΘΕΣΙΣ” (The Attack), dates from 17 April 1944 and was dropped from the air over Greece during the Second World War by the RAF and the U.S. Air Force.
The multi-page leaflet functioned as a compact news and information bulletin for the Greek population in occupied territory and today offers an impressive, tangible document of psychological warfare.

The publication includes articles about the new phase of Allied strategy, the advance of Soviet troops, air raids on German targets, and news from Greece itself, complemented by maps, photographs, and a caricature of Hitler. Notable as well is the Easter message symbolizing hope and liberation, along with reports about food aid and reconstruction.

Deze originele Geallieerde propagandafolder in het Grieks, getiteld “Η ΕΠΙΘΕΣΙΣ” (De Aanval), dateert van 17 april 1944 en werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog vanuit de lucht boven Griekenland verspreid door de RAF en de Amerikaanse luchtmacht. Het meerbladige strooibiljet fungeerde als een compacte nieuws- en informatiekrant voor de Griekse bevolking in bezet gebied en biedt vandaag een indrukwekkend tastbaar document van psychologische oorlogsvoering. De uitgave bevat artikelen over de nieuwe fase van de geallieerde strategie, de opmars van Sovjettroepen, luchtaanvallen op Duitse doelen en nieuws uit Griekenland zelf, aangevuld met kaarten, foto’s en een karikatuur van Hitler.
