Original Tunisian Nichan Iftikhar Commander’s Cross Order of Glory with Neck Ribbon

Original Commander’s Cross of the Tunisian Nichan Iftikhar, also known as the Order of Honour or Order of Glory.
This historic order of chivalry was instituted in the 19th century by the Bey of Tunis and remained in use during the French Protectorate of Tunisia.
The Commander’s Cross consists of an elaborately decorated star with alternating red and green enamelled points and a central medallion featuring Arabic calligraphy.
The star is suspended from a decorative connecting element and is worn from the broad yellow neck ribbon with red stripes.
The example is in used condition with visible signs of wear and some localised loss to the finish and enamel.
The reverse is left undecorated and also shows traces of use.
An attractive original Tunisian decoration from the period of the Beylik of Tunis and the French Protectorate.

Origineel Kommandeurskruis van de Tunesische Nichan Iftikhar, ook bekend als de Orde van de Eer of Orde van de Glorie

Deze historische ridderorde werd in de 19e eeuw ingesteld door de Bey van Tunis en bleef in gebruik tijdens het Franse protectoraat in Tunesië.
Het kommandeurskruis bestaat uit een rijk gedecoreerde ster met afwisselend rood en groen geëmailleerde punten en een centraal medaillon met Arabische kalligrafie.
De ster is verbonden met een decoratief tussenstuk en wordt gedragen aan het brede gele halslint met rode strepen.
Het exemplaar verkeert in gebruikte conditie met zichtbare gebruikssporen en plaatselijk verlies aan de afwerking en het emaille.
De achterzijde is onbewerkt uitgevoerd en toont eveneens sporen van gebruik.
Een fraaie originele Tunesische onderscheiding uit de periode van het Beylik van Tunis en het Franse protectoraat.
