Original Dutch KNIL 1945-1946 ‘voortrekkers’ insignia

This original Dutch East Indies “Voortrekkers” metal badge dates from the period 1945–1946 during the turbulent years following the Second World War in the Dutch East Indies.
The badge features a stylized monogram crowned with the Dutch royal crown.
At the bottom the years 1945 and 1946 are displayed referring to the early post-war period in the Dutch East Indies.
Such badges were worn as identification insignia by individuals involved in the early Dutch presence and organization in the region after the war.
The piece is made of metal with a dark enameled background and gilt colored details.
On the reverse a fastening construction is present allowing the badge to be worn on a uniform or clothing.
The reverse is also marked “Cordesius & Zonen Batavia”, a well known manufacturer of insignia in the Dutch East Indies.
The badge shows signs of wear and patina consistent with its age and historical use.

Origineel Nederlands KNIL 1945-1946 ‘voortrekkers’ embleem 

Dit originele Nederlandse Indië Voortrekkers metalen embleem dateert uit de periode 1945–1946 tijdens de turbulente naoorlogse jaren in Nederlands-Indië.
Het embleem toont centraal een gestileerd monogram bekroond met de Nederlandse koninklijke kroon.
Onderaan zijn de jaartallen 1945 en 1946 aangebracht die verwijzen naar de periode van inzet van de zogenoemde Indië Voortrekkers.
Dit type embleem werd gedragen als herkenningsteken door personen die betrokken waren bij de vroege aanwezigheid en organisatie van Nederlandse structuren in Nederlands-Indië na de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het stuk is vervaardigd uit metaal met een donker geëmailleerde achtergrond en goudkleurige details.
Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich een bevestigingsconstructie voor het dragen op uniform of kleding.
Daarnaast is aan de achterzijde de maker zichtbaar met de markering “Cordesius & Zonen Batavia”, een bekende producent van insignes in Nederlands-Indië.
