Original Cold War East German DDR Combat Order ‘Für Verdienste um Volk und Vaterland’ in the Gold class.
This military decoration was instituted in 1966 by the German Democratic Republic and was awarded to members and units of the National People’s Army and other armed organisations for distinguished military merit.
The decoration consists of a gold-coloured five-pointed star featuring the state emblem of the DDR in the central medallion.
Surrounding the central medallion is the inscription ‘Für den Schutz der Arbeiter-und-Bauern-Macht’, referring to the defence of the socialist workers’ and peasants’ state.
The Gold class was the highest of three grades, above Silver and Bronze.
The example is complete with its distinctive yellow and brown striped pentagonal ribbon and fastening pin.
An interesting original DDR decoration for collectors of National People’s Army, East German and Cold War militaria.

Originele Koude Oorlog DDR Kampforden ‘Für Verdienste um Volk und Vaterland’ in de gouden klasse

Deze militaire onderscheiding werd in 1966 ingesteld door de Duitse Democratische Republiek en werd toegekend aan leden en eenheden van de Nationale Volksarmee en andere gewapende organen voor bijzondere militaire verdiensten.
De onderscheiding heeft de vorm van een goudkleurige vijfpuntige ster met centraal het staatswapen van de DDR.
Rond het centrale medaillon staat het opschrift ‘Für den Schutz der Arbeiter-und-Bauern-Macht’, verwijzend naar de bescherming van de socialistische arbeiders- en boerenstaat.
De gouden uitvoering vormde de hoogste van de drie klassen, naast zilver en brons.
Het exemplaar is compleet met het geel-bruin gestreepte vijfhoekige lint en bevestigingsspeld.
Een interessante originele DDR onderscheiding voor de verzamelaar van Nationale Volksarmee, Oost-Duitse en Koude Oorlog militaria.
