Original 1945-1949 Dutch East Indies ‘De Klewang’ Z-Brigade newspaper

Original example of the Dutch military weekly newspaper “De Klewang” issued for troops stationed on Sumatra during the Dutch East Indies period.
This edition is dated Saturday October 1, 1949 and was distributed within the Z-Brigade in the Dutch East Indies.
The newspaper contains extensive articles about military developments, international politics, naval operations, sports, emigration and daily life of Dutch troops on Sumatra.
The issue also includes photographs, illustrations, advertisements, puzzles and reports from the final period before the transfer of the Dutch East Indies.
The front page features the Z-Brigade rhinoceros emblem together with articles concerning Western Europe and Cold War developments.
Inside are articles covering anti-smuggling naval actions, KNVB football competitions, Australian emigration, aviation and military affairs in Indonesia.

Origineel exemplaar van het Nederlandse militaire weekblad “De Klewang” uitgegeven voor troepen op Sumatra tijdens de Nederlands-Indonesische periode.
Deze editie is gedateerd zaterdag 1 oktober 1949 en werd verspreid binnen de Z-Brigade in Nederlands-Indië.
Het weekblad bevat uitgebreide artikelen over militaire ontwikkelingen, internationale politiek, marine-operaties, sport, emigratie en het dagelijks leven van Nederlandse militairen op Sumatra.
