Original publication titled ‘Tijdschrift voor de Reserve-Officieren van het Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indische Leger’, issue number 21, published in Bandoeng in January 1939 by the Department of War.
This scarce KNIL military journal covers military developments, organisation, tactics and international conflicts during the years leading up to the Second World War.
It includes articles about Lieutenant General H.N.A. Swart (1863-1938), the reorganisation of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, artillery tactics and military analyses.
The journal also contains historical photographs of KNIL soldiers, officers and military exercises in the Dutch East Indies.
The original fold-out military map is still present.
The publication was printed by the Reproductie Bedrijven van den Topografischen Dienst in Batavia.
The rear cover features an original advertisement for NILLMIJ from 1859.
The journal is in used condition with visible moisture stains, discolouration, folds and wear to the cover.
The contents remain complete and fully readable.
A difficult to find publication for collectors of KNIL memorabilia, the Dutch East Indies, colonial history and pre-Second World War military documentation.
