These 12 rare unpublished Dutch photo negatives are in good condition and they show the homecoming of Queen Wilhelmina in The Hague in 1945.

A festive homecoming after a long war period.
Queen Wilhelmina visited her city of The Hague for the first time after the occupation.

To mark the queen’s return, the entire city was decorated. Red-white-and-blue flag lines hung everywhere and people waved orange flags. The drizzle falling from the sky did not stop them in their enthusiasm. Tens of thousands of people were on their feet to see the monarch.

Around noon, Wilhelmina made her appearance at the Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië.
There she was welcomed by a guard of honor from the Irene Brigade and the Internal Armed Forces, followed by a warm welcome from Mayor De Monchy.
This kicked off a festive tour of The Hague.

Deze 12 bijzondere ongepubliceerde Nederlandse foto negatieven zijn in goede conditie en daarop is de thuiskomst van Koningin Wilhelmina in Den Haag te zien in 1945.

Een feestelijke thuiskomst na een lange oorlogsperiode.
Koningin Wilhelmina bezocht voor het eerst na de bezetting haar stad Den Haag.

Ter gelegenheid van de terugkeer van de vorstin was de hele stad versierd. Overal hingen rood-wit-blauwe vlaggenlijnen en zwaaiden mensen met oranje vlaggetjes. De motregen die uit de hemel viel, hield hen niet tegen in hun enthousiasme. Tienduizenden mensen waren op de been om de vorstin te zien.

Rond het middaguur maakte Wilhelmina haar opwachting aan de Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië. Daar werd ze verwelkomd door een erewacht van de Irenebrigade en de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten, gevolgd door een warm welkom van burgemeester De Monchy. Dit was het startschot voor een feestelijke tour door Den Haag.
