Original 1939 Dutch Army Regiments Grenadiers en Jagers Commemorative Certificate Princess Irene

Original Dutch military commemorative certificate from 1939 relating to the Regiments Grenadiers en Jagers.
The certificate was produced as a lasting commemoration of the birth of Her Royal Highness Irene Emma Elisabeth, Princess of Orange-Nassau and Princess of Lippe-Biesterfeld.
Princess Irene was born at Soestdijk Palace on 5 August 1939, only weeks before the outbreak of the Second World War in Europe.
The richly illustrated certificate displays various Dutch royal and military symbols, including the royal crown, coats of arms, a flaming grenade and the traditional colours of the Grenadiers and Jagers.
At the top is a text by Queen Wilhelmina concerning the continuation of traditions and building for the future.
The lower text states that the certificate was presented to those serving with the Regiments Grenadiers en Jagers on this historic day.
Its colourful design is an interesting example of Dutch military graphic art from the 1939 mobilisation period.
The lower section bears the inscription ‘Topografische Dienst’ and the signature of the designer.
The certificate shows normal traces of use and storage as visible in the photographs.

Originele Nederlandse militaire oorkonde uit 1939 van de Regimenten Grenadiers en Jagers

De oorkonde werd vervaardigd als blijvende herinnering aan de geboorte van Hare Koninklijke Hoogheid Irene Emma Elisabeth, Prinses van Oranje-Nassau en Prinses van Lippe-Biesterfeld.
Prinses Irene werd op 5 augustus 1939 geboren op Paleis Soestdijk, slechts enkele weken voor het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Europa.
De rijk uitgevoerde oorkonde toont verschillende Nederlandse koninklijke en militaire symbolen, waaronder de kroon, wapenschilden, een brandende granaat en de traditionele kleuren van de Grenadiers en Jagers.
Bovenaan staat tevens een tekst van koningin Wilhelmina over het voortzetten van tradities en het bouwen aan de toekomst.
Onderaan wordt vermeld dat de oorkonde werd uitgereikt aan allen die op deze historische dag bij de Regimenten Grenadiers en Jagers dienden.
De kleurrijke vormgeving vormt een bijzonder voorbeeld van Nederlandse militaire grafiek uit de mobilisatieperiode van 1939.
Onderaan staat de vermelding ‘Topografische Dienst’ en de signatuur van de ontwerper.
