Original German postcard from the Third Reich period featuring a portrait of well-known German actor Albrecht Schoenhals with his signature on the front.
Albrecht Schoenhals, born Moritz James Karl Albrecht Schoenhals, became a prominent actor within the German film industry during the 1930s.
After establishing himself on the stage, he was discovered by a UFA casting representative while working in Hamburg in 1934.
From this point Schoenhals developed a successful film career, appearing primarily in German productions of the 1930s and early 1940s.
His elegant appearance frequently led to roles as aristocrats, officers, doctors and other distinguished professional figures.
He appeared alongside prominent UFA actresses including Pola Negri, Camilla Horn, Sybille Schmitz, Lil Dagover, Olga Chekhova and Lída Baarová.
His notable films from this period include ‘Mazurka’, ‘Intermezzo’, ‘Die Kreutzersonate’ and ‘Roman eines Arztes’.
An important episode in his career occurred around 1940, when according to biographical sources Schoenhals refused to play the title role in the antisemitic propaganda film ‘Jud Süß’.
The title role ultimately went to Ferdinand Marian, while Schoenhals subsequently received considerably fewer film roles.
In 1941 he appeared in ‘Kopf hoch, Johannes!’, a film produced within the context of National Socialist youth and educational propaganda.
He subsequently largely withdrew from film and theatre life to his ‘Annenhof’ estate near Baden-Baden.
The front of this postcard shows a studio portrait of Schoenhals wearing a hat, with his printed name ‘Albrecht Schoenhals’ underneath.
It also bears the markings ‘Märkische-Panorama-Schneider-Südost’, ‘Ross-Verlag’, number ‘A 2824/1’ and ‘Reproduktion verboten’.
The front additionally bears an original signature of Albrecht Schoenhals.
The reverse has the traditional postcard layout and remains unwritten and unused.

Originele Duitse postkaart uit de periode van het Derde Rijk met een portret van de bekende Duitse acteur Albrecht Schoenhals en zijn handtekening op de voorzijde

Albrecht Schoenhals, geboren als Moritz James Karl Albrecht Schoenhals, behoorde in de jaren dertig tot de bekende acteurs van de Duitse filmindustrie.
Na een carrière in het theater werd hij in 1934 tijdens zijn werkzaamheden in Hamburg ontdekt door een castingmedewerker van de UFA.
Vanaf dat moment ontwikkelde Schoenhals een succesvolle filmcarrière en speelde hij vooral in Duitse films uit de jaren dertig en vroege jaren veertig.
Door zijn elegante voorkomen werd hij veelvuldig gecast als aristocraat, officier, arts of andere vooraanstaande figuur.
Hij speelde naast bekende UFA-actrices als Pola Negri, Camilla Horn, Sybille Schmitz, Lil Dagover, Olga Chekhova en Lída Baarová.
Tot zijn bekende films uit deze periode behoren onder andere ‘Mazurka’, ‘Intermezzo’, ‘Die Kreutzersonate’ en ‘Roman eines Arztes’.
Een opmerkelijk moment in zijn carrière volgde rond 1940, toen Schoenhals volgens biografische bronnen weigerde de titelrol te spelen in de antisemitische propagandafilm ‘Jud Süß’.
De titelrol ging uiteindelijk naar Ferdinand Marian en Schoenhals kreeg daarna aanzienlijk minder filmrollen.

Daarnaast zijn de aanduidingen ‘Märkische-Panorama-Schneider-Südost’, ‘Ross-Verlag’, nummer ‘A 2824/1’ en ‘Reproduktion verboten’ zichtbaar.
Op de voorzijde bevindt zich tevens een originele handtekening van Albrecht Schoenhals.
De achterzijde is uitgevoerd als postkaart en is onbeschreven en ongebruikt.
Een interessant origineel verzamelobject dat de Duitse filmwereld van de jaren dertig en de positie van een bekende acteur tijdens het Derde Rijk samenbrengt.
