Original WWII RAF British/Dutch propaganda candy wrapper

This original British propaganda candy wrapper from the Second World War is a remarkable and rare piece of psychological warfare that was dropped over the Netherlands by the Royal Air Force.

The thin, fragile wrapper features the striking orange Dutch text “Gestrooid door de R.A.F.” (“Dropped by the R.A.F.”) and shows a satirical illustration of a traditional Sinterklaas figure, Piet with a birch rod, chasing a fleeing German soldier, a humorous yet purposeful image intended to mock the German occupiers and boost the morale of the Dutch population.

Such small propaganda items were often dropped together with sweets or small gifts to gain sympathy and spread hope during the occupation.

Deze originele Britse propaganda-snoepverpakking uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog is een bijzonder en zeldzaam stuk psychologische oorlogsvoering dat door de Royal Air Force boven Nederland werd uitgestrooid.
De dunne, fragiele verpakking draagt de opvallende oranje Nederlandstalige opdruk “Gestrooid door de R.A.F.” en toont een satirische illustratie waarin een traditionele Sinterklaasfiguur, piet met roe een vluchtende Duitse soldaat achtervolgt, een humoristische maar doelgerichte voorstelling die bedoeld was om de Duitse bezetter te bespotten en het moreel van de Nederlandse bevolking te versterken.
