Original WWII Dutch ‘Trouw’ resistance poster

Original Dutch Resistance poster from the Second World War, issued by the illegal underground newspaper Trouw, a rare piece of clandestine propaganda calling for steadfast resistance in occupied Netherlands.

The poster carries the prominent title “Nederlanders!” and shows a map of Germany with several major cities marked, while the Allied forces advance from both the East and West. The accompanying text reads: “Hebt gij oog voor Duitslands ondergang?” — a clear appeal to the Dutch population to continue resisting the German occupation and to keep faith in the approaching defeat of Nazi Germany.

This poster was secretly printed and distributed through the network of the underground newspaper Trouw, where production and distribution involved great personal risk.

Originele Nederlandse verzetsposter uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, afkomstig van de illegale verzetskrant Trouw, een zeldzaam stuk clandestiene propaganda dat oproept tot standvastigheid in bezet Nederland. De poster draagt de prominente titel “Nederlanders!” en toont een kaart van Duitsland met diverse grote steden aangeduid, terwijl de Geallieerden oprukken vanuit het Oosten en Westen.
De begeleidende tekst luidt: “Hebt gij oog voor Duitslands ondergang?
Een duidelijke oproep aan de Nederlandse bevolking om weerstand te blijven bieden tegen de Duitse bezetting en vertrouwen te houden in de naderende nederlaag van nazi-Duitsland.
Deze poster werd in het geheim gedrukt en verspreid via het netwerk van de illegale verzetskrant Trouw, waarbij productie en verspreiding gepaard gingen met grote persoonlijke risico’s.
