Original WWII British Photo Album – North Africa Campaign

This interesting British World War II photo album offers an extensive visual record of the fighting in North Africa and other front-line areas, compiled by an Allied serviceman.
The album contains a total of 62 original photographs and 4 coloured printed portrait plates of prominent world leaders, ranging from Winston Churchill and Roosevelt to senior military commanders.
The photographs include scenes of artillery bombardments at El Alamein, tank movements, aerial bombings, prisoners of war, captured positions such as Tobruk and Bardia, as well as the daily life of soldiers in the desert.
With numerous handwritten captions, the album forms a personal and historical document that vividly illustrates the intensity of the North African campaign.
Several pages are loose, but nevertheless it remains an interesting item for any World War II North Africa collection.

Dit interessante Britse fotoalbum uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog biedt een uitgebreid visueel verslag van de gevechten in Noord-Afrika en andere frontgebieden, samengesteld door een geallieerde militair. Het album bevat in totaal 62 originele foto’s en 4 gekleurde gedrukte portretprenten van prominente wereldleiders, zoals van Winston Churchill en Roosevelt tot militaire bevelhebbers. De foto’s tonen onder meer artilleriebeschietingen bij El Alamein, tankbewegingen, luchtbombardementen, krijgsgevangenen, veroverde posities zoals Tobroek en Bardia, en het dagelijks leven van soldaten in de woestijn. Met talrijke handgeschreven beschrijvingen vormt het geheel een persoonlijk en historisch fotoalbum dat de intensiteit van de Noord-Afrikaanse veldtocht scherp in beeld brengt.
