Original WWII Dutch Germanic SS book ‘De Rijksgedachte’

This edition De Rijksgedachte 1940–1943, published in 1944 by Storm Publishers in Amsterdam, is a substantial and rare volume that offers a clear view of the National Socialist propaganda circulated in the Netherlands during the German occupation.
The book was compiled on behalf of the Germanic SS in the Netherlands and was issued to mark Hitler’s 55th birthday on 20 April 1944, commissioned by SS-Standartenführer J.H. Feldmeijer.
The book contains 336 pages and features a mix of texts, speeches, photographic inserts and illustrations intended to promote the Germanic ideological narrative of the period. The hardcover binding is executed in black cloth with the title stamped in Gothic script. Inside are various propagandistic photographs, including portraits of SS members, ceremonial images, and depictions meant to illustrate the wartime front and affiliated organisations. Deze uitgave De Rijksgedachte 1940–1943 werd gepubliceerd in 1944 door uitgeverij Storm te Amsterdam en is een omvangrijk en zeldzaam boekwerk dat een duidelijk beeld geeft van de nationaalsocialistische propaganda die tijdens de Duitse bezetting in Nederland werd verspreid.
Het boek is in opdracht van de Germaansche SS in Nederland samengesteld en werd uitgegeven ter gelegenheid van Hitlers 55ste verjaardag op 20 april 1944 in opdracht van SS-Standartenführer J.H. Feldmeijer.
Het boek telt 336 pagina’s en bevat een mix van teksten, redevoeringen, fotobijlagen en illustraties die bedoeld waren om het toenmalige Germaanse gedachtegoed te ondersteunen.
De hardcoverband is uitgevoerd in zwart linnen met titelopdruk in gotisch schrift. Binnenin bevinden zich diverse propagandistische foto’s, waaronder portretten van SS-leden, ceremoniefoto’s en beelden die het oorlogsfront en aangesloten organisaties moesten verbeelden. Ook zijn er redevoeringen opgenomen van prominente functionarissen binnen de bezettingsstructuur.
