Original WWII German 2. Kompanie Wachtruppe Berlin (1936/1937) photo album

This remarkable photo album of the 2nd Company, Wachtruppe Berlin (1936/1937) is an extensive, original, and extremely rare historical album from pre-war Berlin.
Compiled by a conscript of the Wachtruppe, the album contains a collection of 25 authentic photographs in various formats, ranging from professional large-format prints of approximately 24 × 18 cm to smaller personal photos of around 9 × 6 cm.
The presence of so many large-format images is highly unusual, and they are exceptionally sharp for their age.
Behind the original cover decorated with the emblem used at the time and an ornate title print lies a handwritten title page introducing the memories of service during 1936/1937.
The album then offers an extensive visual account of parades, drill exercises, guard duties, and ceremonial appearances at prominent locations such as the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, and various other Berlin monuments.
Several ceremonies and inspections feature high-ranking military and political figures of the period, clearly recognisable by their official role and ceremonial entourage.
According to the handwritten notes and context, the photos include appearances of well-known personalities such as Adolf Hitler, August von Mackensen, and others.

Many photographs bear original press or studio stamps, as well as handwritten captions.
The album is in good, original condition with light signs of age.

Dit bijzondere fotoalbum van de 2. Kompanie Wachtruppe Berlin (1936/1937) vormt een uitgebreid, origineel en uiterst zeldzaam tijdsdocument uit het vooroorlogse Berlijn.
Het album, samengesteld door een dienstplichtige van de Wachtruppe, bevat een verzameling authentieke foto’s in uiteenlopende formaten, variërend van professionele grootafdrukken van circa 24 × 18 cm tot kleinere persoonlijke foto’s van ongeveer 9 × 6 cm. De aanwezigheid van zoveel grootformaatbeelden is uitzonderlijk en deze zijn vrij scherp. Achter de originele kaft, voorzien van het destijds gebruikte embleem en sierlijke titelopdruk, bevindt zich een handgeschreven titelpagina die de herinneringen aan de diensttijd in 1936/1937 inleidt. Het album biedt vervolgens een uitgebreid visueel verslag van parades, exercities, erewachten en ceremoniële optredens op prominente locaties zoals de Brandenburger Tor, Unter den Linden en diverse Berlijnse monumenten. Daarbij zijn meerdere plechtigheden en inspecties te zien waarbij hooggeplaatste militaire en politieke figuren uit die periode aanwezig waren, duidelijk herkenbaar aan hun rol en entourage binnen de ceremonies.
Op de foto’s zijn bijvoorbeeld Adolf Hitler en August von Mackensen en andere bekendheden te zien. Veel foto’s zijn voorzien van originele pers- of studiostempels en handgeschreven onderschriften.
