The poster is in used condition and was used to recruit Walloon volunteers for the Walloon Waffen-SS volunteer legion.

On July 6, 1941, Leon Degrelle announced the creation of the “Légion Wallonie.
Immediately Degrelle began a tour of Wallonia to recruit volunteers. In his speeches, he called for participation in “a crusade against godless Bolshevism,” and he spread the rumor that he had the tacit support of King Leopold III of Belgium.
At the first rallies, only 850 volunteers reported for the legion.
During the fighting in the winter of 1941, the ranks of the legion were greatly depleted.
The German army leadership considered disbanding the unit.
Leon Degrelle was determined to prevent this, as it would lower his prestige.
In February 1942, he sent a legionnaire to Rex’s leadership with the task of recruiting a new batch of volunteers.
Reports of hardships on the Eastern Front deterred many volunteers and few new recruits showed up.
The Walloon Legion fought against partisans in Ukraine, Cherkassy and the Battle of Tannenberg, among others.

De poster is in gebruikte conditie en werd gebruikt om Waalse vrijwilligers te recruiteren voor het Waalse Waffen-SS vrijwilligers legioen.

Op 6 juli 1941 kondigde Leon Degrelle de oprichting van het ‘Légion Wallonie’ aan.
Onmiddellijk begon Degrelle aan een tocht door Wallonië om vrijwilligers te ronselen. In zijn toespraken riep hij op tot deelname aan ‘een kruistocht tegen het goddeloze bolsjevisme’ en hij verspreidde het gerucht dat hij de stilzwijgende steun had van koning Leopold III van België.
Bij de eerste ronselingen kwamen melden slechts 850 vrijwilligers zich voor het legioen.
Tijdens de gevechten in de winter van 1941 werden de rangen van het legioen sterk uitgedund.
De Duitse legerleiding overwoog om de eenheid te ontbinden.
Leon Degrelle was vastbesloten om dit te verhinderen, want dat zou zijn prestige doen dalen.
In februari 1942 zond hij een legionair naar de leiding van Rex met als opdracht een nieuwe lichting vrijwilligers te werven.
De berichten over de ontberingen aan het oostfront schrikte vele vrijwilligers af en er daagden weinig nieuwe rekruten op.
Het Waalse legioen vocht onder andere tegen partizanen in Oekraïne, Cherkassy en de slag om Tannenberg.
