Original WWII USAAF pilot grouping Edward Puckhaber

This USAAF grouping is in used condition and was used by the American pilot Edward Puckhaber.
Edward Puckhaber was a pilot in the 491st Bomb Squadron, 341st Bombardment Group, 22nd Bombardment Squadron.
He flew B25 bombers in the Pacific near China, Burma India and Okinawa.
Edward Puckhaber was born on January 4, 1920 and died on March 30, 1998.
This grouping includes his jacket, May West vest, cap, blouse, tie, dog tag, sunglasses, ID card and Okinawa wallet.

341st Bombardment Group

The unit started in India on 15 September 1942 and they were equipped with B25 bombers.
From early 1943 to 1944 they bombed mainly in Burma, bridges, trains, railways and other transport routes of the Japanese.
In January 1944 they bombed mainly along the coast of China with targets such as ports, trains and railways.
Shortly afterwards also in French Indochina.

22nd Bombardment Group

The unit started on February 1, 1940 and trained with B-18 and B26 bombers.
They mainly flew anti-submarine patrols along the west coast.
At the end of 1941 the unit was moved to the South Pacific.
They attacked ships off New Guinea and New Britain using B-25 bombers.
In February 1944 the 22nd Bombardment Group bombed Japanese airfields and ships and oil installations at Borneo, Ceram and Halmahera.

In September 1944, the unit saw action in the southern Philippines in preparation for the invasion of Leyte.
From December 1944 through August 1945, the unit bombed Japanese airfields and oil installations near Luzon, supported Australian ground forces in Borneo and bombed railways in Formosa and China.
In August 1945 the unit was moved to Okinawa and flew reconnaissance flights over Japan from there.

Deze USAAF grouping is in gedragen conditie en werd gebruikt door de Amerikaanse piloot Edward Puckhaber.
Edward Puckhaber was een piloot in de 491st Bomb Squadron, 341st Bombardement group, 22nd Bombardement Squadron.
Hij vloeg B25 bommenwerpers in de Pacific bij China, Burma india en Okinawa.
Edward Puckhaber werd geboren op 4 januari 1920 en overleed op 30 maart 1998.
Deze grouping bevat zijn jas, May West vest, pet, blouse, stropdas, dog tag, zonnebril, ID kaart en portomonnee van Okinawa.

341st Bombardment Group

De eenheid startte op 15 september 1942 in India en zij waren uitgerust met B25 bommenwerpers.
Van begin 1943 tot 1944 bombardeerden zij voornamelijk in Burma, bruggen, treinen,  spoorwegen en andere transportroutes van de Japanners.
In januari 1944 bombardeerden zij voornamelijk langs de kust van China met doelen zoals havens, treinen en spoorwegen.
Kort daarna ook in Frans Indochina.

22nd Bombardment Group

De eenheid starte op 1 februari 1940 en trainde met B-18 en B26 bommenwerpers.
Zij vlogen voornamelijk anti duikboot patrouilles langs de west kust.
Eind 1941 werd de eenheid verplaatst naar de zuid Pacific.
Zij vielen schepen aan bij Nieuw-Guinea en New Britain en daarbij gebruikten zij B-25 bommenwerpers.

In februari 1944 bombardeerde de 22nd Bombardment Group Japanse vliegvelden en schepen en olie installaties bij Borneo, Ceram en Halmahera.
In september 1944 zag de eenheid actie bij het zuiden van de Fillipijnen in voorbereiding op de invasie van Leyte.

Van december 1944 tot en met augustus 1945 de eenheid bombardeerde Japanse vliegvelden en olie installaties bij Luzon, ondersteunden de Australische grondtroepen op Borneo en bombardeerde spoorwegen in Formosa en China.
In augustus 1945 werd de eenheid verplaatst naar Okinawa en vloog vanuit daar verkenningsvluchten boven Japan.
