Original WWII US presidential certificate signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, awarded to Dutch resistance fighter Hendrik ter Avest (Wierden)

This very rare presidential certificate was personally signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, then General of the U.S. Army and Commander of the United States Forces in the European Theater.
The document was presented to the Dutch resistance member Hendrik ter Avest from Wierden in recognition of his courageous efforts in assisting Allied pilots to escape from enemy territory.
Only a small number of these hand-signed certificates were awarded to Dutch resistance members, making this example exceptionally rare and remarkable.
The certificate features the official American eagle at the top and bears a clearly visible embossed seal of the Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, U.S. Army.
The text expresses, on behalf of the President of the United States, the gratitude and appreciation of the American people for the bravery and service rendered.
Despite signs of age, the document remains in good and fully original condition.
An extremely rare collectible, directly connected to the Allied resistance in the Netherlands and the personal recognition given by the United States.

Originele WWII US presidentiële oorkonde hand gesigneerd door Dwight D. Eisenhower uitgereikt aan Nederlands verzetsman Hendrik ter Avest (Wierden) 

Deze zeer bijzondere presidentiële oorkonde werd persoonlijk ondertekend door Dwight D. Eisenhower, destijds General of the US Army en bevelhebber van de United States Forces in the European Theater. Het document werd uitgereikt aan de Nederlandse verzetsman Hendrik ter Avest uit Wierden als erkenning voor zijn moedige inzet bij het helpen ontsnappen van geallieerde piloten uit vijandelijk gebied. Slechts een klein aantal van deze met de hand gesigneerde oorkonden werd aan Nederlandse verzetsmensen uitgereikt, wat dit exemplaar uitzonderlijk zeldzaam en bijzonder maakt. De oorkonde draagt de officiële Amerikaanse adelaar bovenaan en is voorzien van een duidelijk zichtbaar droogstempel van het Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, U.S. Army. De tekst drukt namens de President van de Verenigde Staten de dankbaarheid en waardering van het Amerikaanse volk uit voor de getoonde moed en bewezen diensten. Ondanks ouderdomssporen verkeert het document in een goede, volledig originele staat. Een uiterst zeldzaam verzamelobject, direct verbonden met het geallieerde verzet in Nederland en de persoonlijke erkenning van Amerikaanse zijde. Interessant voor verzamelaars van verzetsgeschiedenis, geallieerde luchtvaartmemorabilia en originele Eisenhower objecten!
