Original WWII US Army Circle Aiming M1 by E.K. Co. 1943 with Tripod and Carrying Case

Original WWII US Army Circle Aiming M1 from 1943, complete with adjustable tripod, carrying case and accompanying accessories.
This optical aiming and surveying instrument was used by the US Army for accurately establishing directions and angles for applications including artillery and mortar positions.
The instrument features a rotating graduated scale, fine adjustment controls, level and optics and can be mounted on the accompanying tripod.
The housing is marked ‘CIRCLE, AIMING, M1’, ‘NO. 14785’, ‘E.K. CO.’, ‘F.J.A.’ and ‘1943’.
The F.J.A. marking refers to US Army inspector Frank J. Atwood, whose inspection mark appears on American military equipment from this period.
The original cylindrical carrying case retains its carrying straps, closures and internal fittings for the instrument and accessories.
Several accompanying components are also present inside the case, including wiring and a marked ‘LIGHT INSTRUMENT’ container.
The complete set is in used condition with visible traces of use and retains its olive drab military finish.

Dit optische richt- en meetinstrument werd door het Amerikaanse leger gebruikt voor het nauwkeurig bepalen van richtingen en hoeken ten behoeve van onder andere artillerie- en mortierstellingen.
Het instrument beschikt over een draaibare schaalverdeling, fijninstellingen, waterpas en optiek en kan op de bijbehorende driepoot worden gemonteerd.
De behuizing is gemarkeerd ‘CIRCLE, AIMING, M1’, ‘NO. 14785’, ‘E.K. CO.’, ‘F.J.A.’ en ‘1943’.
De F.J.A.-markering verwijst naar de Amerikaanse inspecteur Frank J. Atwood, wiens inspectiemarkering op Amerikaans militair materieel uit deze periode voorkomt.
De originele cilindervormige transportkoker is voorzien van draagriemen, sluitingen en interne houders voor het instrument en de accessoires.
In de koker bevinden zich tevens verschillende onderdelen waaronder bekabeling en een gemarkeerde ‘LIGHT INSTRUMENT’ houder.
Het geheel verkeert in gebruikte conditie met zichtbare gebruikssporen en behoud van de olijfgroene militaire afwerking.
Een uitgebreid en fraai bewaard gebleven WWII US Army richtinstrument voor een verzameling Amerikaanse artillerie, optiek en original militaria.
