Deze geheime  Amerikaanse mijnenveld kaarten/schetsen set is afkomstig van Captain John K. Howard van de US 146th Engineer Combat Battalion en laten mijnenvelden zien in de omgeving van Mützenich en Monschau tijdens  het Ardennenoffensief en de slag om het Hürtgenwald op 4 januari 1945.
De 26 kaarten/schetsen laten zeer interessante details over anti-personeels mijnen zien die daar in de frontlinie waren gelegd.
De US 146th Engineer Combat Batallion vocht tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog op Omaha beach en tijdens de welbekende ‘Battle of the Bulge’.
Tijdens de start van het Duitse offensief op 16 december 1944 werden de mannen van deze eenheid ingezet als infanteristen bij de 38th Cavalry Squadron in Monschau vanwege de tekorten aan manschappen in de linies.
