Original WWII Swedish-Dutch relief and support poster 1945

This Swedish relief and support poster from 1945 is a remarkable historical document directly referring to the humanitarian emergency in the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War.
The poster shows a torn Dutch flag against a dark background, accompanied by the powerful Swedish text “En stormflod av hjälp – kan rädda Holland nu” (“A flood of help can save Holland now”).
This appeal was issued by the Swedish-Dutch Relief Committee, which collected food and goods for the heavily affected Dutch population.
On the backside, the names of the artist Anders Beckman and the designers S. and B. Elmquist are listed, along with the printing information: Printed in Sweden, Ivar Hæggströms Boktr. A.B., Stockholm 1945.

Deze Zweedse hulp- en steunposter uit 1945 is een bijzonder historisch document dat direct verwijst naar de humanitaire noodsituatie in Nederland aan het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De poster toont een gescheurde Nederlandse vlag tegen een donkere achtergrond, vergezeld van de krachtige Zweedse tekst “En stormflod av hjälp – kan rädda Holland nu” (“Een vloedgolf van hulp – kan Nederland nu redden”).
Deze oproep werd verspreid door het Zweeds-Nederlandse Hulpkommittén, dat voedsel en goederen inzamelde voor de zwaar getroffen Nederlandse bevolking.
