This German Erkennungsmarke is in good condition and was worn by a member of the Sanitäts-Ersatz-Abteilung 8 ‘Breslau’.
The Abteilung was established on September 28, 1939, in Breslau, Wehrkreis VIII. It originated from the Sanitäts-Ersatz-Kompanie 8, which had been set up on August 26, 1939, and was initially under the direct authority of the Wehrkreisarzt VIII.
On December 8, 1940, the Abteilung was transferred to Drachenbronn near Hagenau in Alsace, within Wehrkreis V.
From that point onward, the Abteilung was also subordinated to the Korpsarzt of Wehrkreis V. In October 1942, the Abteilung was relocated back to Loben in Upper Silesia, in Wehrkreis VIII. From then on, it again fell under the Wehrkreisarzt VIII.
On April 2, 1943, the Abteilung was renamed Sanitäts-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Abteilung 8. Toward the end of the war in 1945, the Abteilung was stationed in Eilenburg, Wehrkreis IV.

Deze Duitse Erkennungsmarke is in goede conditie en werd gedragen door een lid van het Sanitäts-Ersatz-Abteilung 8 ‘Breslau’.
De Abteilung werd op 28 september 1939 in Breslau, Wehrkreis VIII, opgericht.
Zij ontstond uit de op 26 augustus 1939 opgerichte Sanitäts-Ersatz-Kompanie 8 en viel aanvankelijk direct onder de Wehrkreisarzt VIII.
Op 8 december 1940 werd de Abteilung verplaatst naar Drachenbronn bij Hagenau in de Elzas, in Wehrkreis V.
Vanaf dat moment viel de Abteilung ook onder de Korpsarzt van Wehrkreis V.
In oktober 1942 werd de Abteilung terug verplaatst naar Loben in Opper-Silezië, in Wehrkreis VIII.
Daarna viel zij opnieuw onder de Wehrkreisarzt VIII.
Op 2 april 1943 werd de Abteilung hernoemd tot Sanitäts-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Abteilung 8.
Tegen het einde van de oorlog was de Abteilung in 1945 gestationeerd in Eilenburg, Wehrkreis IV.
