Original German Wehrmacht handbook “Taschenbuch Russisches Heer” issued on April 15, 1943.
This compact military identification and reference manual was developed for German troops on the Eastern Front and extensively covers the organization, equipment and weaponry of the Soviet Army during the Second World War.
The handbook was issued by the Oberkommando des Heeres – General Staff of the Army – Department Fremde Heere Ost and bears the marking “Ic-Unterlagen Ost.”

Inside are numerous technical illustrations of Soviet weapons, submachine guns, anti-tank rifles, artillery pieces, machine guns and military equipment.
The book also contains detailed charts of Soviet military rank insignia, shoulder boards of officers and enlisted personnel, military uniforms and branch identification markings.
Included as well are tables of the Russian alphabet and a fold-out color map of the European part of the Soviet Union.

The handbook served as a practical field guide for Wehrmacht units in identifying enemy troops, weapons and military structures on the Eastern Front.

Origineel Duits Wehrmacht handboek “Taschenbuch Russisches Heer” uitgegeven op 15 april 1943.
Dit compacte militaire herkennings- en informatieboek werd ontwikkeld voor Duitse troepen aan het Oostfront en behandelt uitvoerig de organisatie, uitrusting en bewapening van het Sovjetleger tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het handboek is uitgegeven door Oberkommando des Heeres – Generalstab des Heeres – Abteilung Fremde Heere Ost en draagt de markering “Ic-Unterlagen Ost”.

Binnenin bevinden zich talrijke technische illustraties van Sovjetwapens, machinepistolen, antitankwapens, artillerie, machinegeweren en militaire uitrusting.
Daarnaast bevat het boek gedetailleerde overzichten van Sovjet rangonderscheidingen, schouderstukken van officieren en manschappen, militaire uniformen en herkenningstekens van verschillende legeronderdelen.
Ook opgenomen zijn tabellen van het Russische alfabet en een uitvouwbare kleurenkaart van het Europese deel van de Sovjet-Unie.
