Original WWII German soldbuch – IR 16 (Rotterdam May 1940)

The soldbuch is in used condition and was worn by a soldier in the 10./infantry regiment 16.
The infantry regiment 16 was stationed in Oldenburg and first saw action on 10 May 1940 during the invasion of the Netherlands.
They landed at the Dutch airport of Waalhaven in Rotterdam and got into fights with the Dutch defenders in the South of Rotterdam and on the Noordereiland.
After the capitulation in the Netherlands, the soldier continued to fight in his unit on the Eastern Front and he received the Iron Cross 2nd class, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen and the Winterslacht im Osten medal. A unique soldbuch for the May 1940 or soldbuch collection!

Het soldbuch is in gebruikte conditie en werd gedragen door een militair in de 10./infanterie-regiment 16.
Het infanterie regiment 16 was gestationeerd in Oldenburg en kwam voor het eerst in actie op 10 mei 1940 tijdens de invasie van Nederland.
Zij landde op het Nederlandse vliegveld van Waalhaven in Rotterdam en raakten in gevecht met de Nederlandse verdedigers in Rotterdam-Zuid en op het Noordereiland.
Na de capitulatie in Nederlands vocht de militair verder in zijn eenheid aan het Oostfront en hij behaalde het IJzeren Kruis 2de klasse, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen en de Winterslacht im Osten medaille.
