Original WWII German Siemens bunker telephone

Original WWII German Siemens bunker telephone from the Second World War.
The telephone is in used condition with clear traces of use and wear to the green finish.
This example originally came from a German bunker in Norway, making it an interesting surviving piece from the German occupation of Norway during World War II.
The heavy telephone installation consists of a metal housing with a protective bell cover, a separate metal handset with cable and a hand crank on the side.
Four sturdy mounting points are present on the reverse, allowing the telephone to be mounted to a wall inside a bunker or other military position.
The original Siemens metal manufacturer plate is still present on the telephone.
The number ‘735’ is also marked into the housing.
These robust telephones were used for military communications from bunkers, command posts and defensive positions.
During the German occupation of Norway, an extensive network of coastal defences and bunkers was constructed as part of the Atlantic Wall, where reliable fixed communications were of great importance.
This model of telephone also continued to be used for some time shortly after the end of World War II.
The telephone has not been tested for functionality and is offered as a historical collector’s item.

Originele WWII Duitse Siemens bunkertelefoon uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog

De telefoon verkeert in gebruikte conditie met duidelijke gebruikssporen en slijtage aan de groene afwerking.
Dit exemplaar is oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit een Duitse bunker in Noorwegen en vormt daarmee een interessant overblijfsel van de Duitse bezetting van Noorwegen tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De zware telefooninstallatie bestaat uit een metalen behuizing met beschermkap voor de bel, een losse metalen telefoonhoorn met kabel en een handzwengel aan de zijkant.
Aan de achterzijde bevinden zich vier stevige montagepunten waarmee de telefoon tegen een wand in een bunker of andere militaire stelling kon worden bevestigd.
Op het toestel is het originele metalen fabrieksplaatje van Siemens aanwezig.
Daarnaast is het nummer ‘735’ in de behuizing aangebracht.
Dergelijke robuuste telefoons werden gebruikt voor militaire communicatie vanuit bunkers, commandoposten en verdedigingsstellingen.
Tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Noorwegen werd een uitgebreid netwerk van kustverdedigingen en bunkers aangelegd als onderdeel van de Atlantikwall, waarbij betrouwbare vaste communicatie van groot belang was.
Dit model telefoon werd ook vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog nog enige tijd doorgebruikt.
De telefoon is niet getest op werking en wordt verkocht als historisch verzamelobject.
