Original German prisoner postcard from the notorious Gestapo prison located in the Small Fortress of Theresienstadt.
This original postcard is dated 6 February 1944 and was sent from the Police Prison Theresienstadt.
The prisoner is identified as Häftling Josef Vaverka and was held in cell 6.
The postcard is addressed to Frau Marie Vaverková in Libečnik near Kropáčova in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
The front contains the printed prison regulations stating that prisoners were allowed to send or receive only one letter or postcard per month while food parcels and money were strictly regulated.
The postcard retains its original 60 Pfennig Adolf Hitler postage stamp and Theresienstadt cancellation.
The reverse contains a fully handwritten message in which the prisoner thanks the recipient for several food parcels, acknowledges a letter dated 30 January, confirms that he is in good health and asks friends to continue writing.
During the Second World War the Small Fortress of Theresienstadt served as a Gestapo police prison where thousands of political prisoners, resistance members and civilians from occupied Europe were imprisoned, interrogated and abused.

Originele Duitse gevangenenbriefkaart uit het beruchte Gestapo-gevangeniscomplex in de Kleine Festing van Theresienstadt

Deze originele briefkaart is gedateerd 6 februari 1944 en werd verzonden vanuit het Politiegevangenis Theresienstadt.
De gevangene staat vermeld als Häftling Vaverka Josef en verbleef in cel 6.
De kaart is gericht aan Frau Marie Vaverková in Libečnik bij Kropáčova in het Protectoraat Bohemen en Moravië.
De voorzijde toont de voorgedrukte regels voor gevangenen, waaronder de beperking dat slechts één brief of kaart per maand mocht worden verzonden of ontvangen en dat voedselpakketten en geld alleen onder strikte voorwaarden waren toegestaan.
De kaart is voorzien van de originele 60 Pfennig Adolf Hitler-postzegel en verzendstempel uit Theresienstadt.
Op de achterzijde bevindt zich de volledig handgeschreven boodschap waarin de gevangene meldt dat hij meerdere voedselpakketten heeft ontvangen, bedankt voor een brief van 30 januari, schrijft dat hij gezond is en vraagt bekenden vaker te schrijven.
