Original WWII German Luftschutz bread bag

The German bread bag is in good condition, it was produced in 1944 or 1945 for the Luftschutz.
The bread bag has a ‘Prym’ press stud.
The Luftschutz (air protection) was a German civil defense organization during World War II, responsible for protecting the population against Allied air raids.
From 1935 onwards, participation in air protection became increasingly mandatory: civilians were required to observe blackout measures, acquire gas masks, and take part in training exercises.
The organization distributed instructions, set up air raid shelters, and coordinated assistance during bombings.
Volunteers and conscripted civilians served as air raid wardens, often recognizable by special helmets, armbands, or insignia.
Although the Luftschutz was initially presented as a practical safety organization, it also took on a propagandistic role.
It was meant to give civilians the feeling that, despite heavy air raids, they could still contribute to the defense of the Reich.

De Duitse broodzak is in goede conditie en werd geproduceerd in 1944 of 1945 voor de Luftschutz.
De broodzak is voorzien van een ‘Prym’ drukknoop.
De Luftschutz (luchtbescherming) was een Duitse civiele organisatie die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog verantwoordelijk was voor de bescherming van de bevolking tegen geallieerde luchtaanvallen.
Vanaf 1935 werd deelname aan luchtbescherming steeds meer verplicht gesteld: burgers moesten verduisteringsmaatregelen treffen, gasmaskers aanschaffen en deelnemen aan oefeningen.
De organisatie hield zich bezig met het uitdelen van instructies, het inrichten van schuilkelders en het coördineren van hulp bij bombardementen.
Vrijwilligers en opgeroepen burgers fungeerden als luchtbeschermingshelpen, vaak herkenbaar aan speciale helmen, armbanden of emblemen.
Hoewel de Luftschutz in eerste instantie werd gepresenteerd als een praktische veiligheidsorganisatie, kreeg het ook een propagandistische rol: burgers moesten het gevoel krijgen dat ze ondanks de zware luchtaanvallen konden bijdragen aan de verdediging van het Reich.
