Original WWII German large map for the preparation of the invasion of Poland in 1939

Original large German Wehrmacht staff map titled ‘Eisenbahnkarte Deutschlands’ featuring hand drawn operational markings from the period of the 1939 Poland Campaign.
The base map is a German railway map marked ‘Nach dem Stande vom Januar 1932’ and illustrates the extensive railway network throughout Germany.
Military annotations, troop movements, division markings and operational arrows have been added in various colours across the map.
The handwritten markings strongly suggest military staff use during the preparations for or execution of the German campaign against Poland in 1939.
Strategic locations including Königsberg, Stettin, Breslau, Munich, Posen and Berlin are marked with military operational notes.
Measuring approximately 143 x 110 cm, this is an impressive large format staff map with significant historical and display value.
The reverse is blank and shows several small tears along the fold lines, as shown in the photographs.

Originele grote Duitse Wehrmacht stafkaart ‘Eisenbahnkarte Deutschlands’ met handgetekende operationele markeringen uit de periode van de Poolse Veldtocht in 1939.
De basiskaart is een Duitse spoorwegkaart met de aanduiding ‘Nach dem Stande vom Januar 1932’ en toont het uitgebreide spoorwegnet van Duitsland.
Over de kaart zijn met verschillende kleuren militaire aantekeningen, troepenbewegingen, divisieaanduidingen en operationele pijlen aangebracht.
De handgeschreven markeringen wijzen sterk op militair stafgebruik tijdens de voorbereidingen of uitvoering van de Duitse campagne tegen Polen in 1939.
Op de kaart zijn onder meer strategische locaties zoals Königsberg, Stettin, Breslau, München, Posen en Berlijn voorzien van militaire aantekeningen.
Met een formaat van circa 143 x 110 cm betreft dit een indrukwekkende grootformaat stafkaart die zowel historisch als decoratief bijzonder is.
