This German Kriegsmarine plaque is in good condition and is an award that was presented on the German ship the SSS Horst Wessel.

Diameter: 7 cm.
The SSS Horst Wessel was a German sailing school ship, built in 1936 for the Kriegsmarine and named after the Nazi martyr Horst Wessel.
It served as a training ship for naval officers and was strongly associated with National Socialist propaganda.
After World War II, the ship was acquired by the Americans and renamed USCGC Eagle.
It is still used as a training ship for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Deze Duitse Kriegsmarine plaquette is in goede conditie en het betreft een prijs welke uitgereikt werd op het Duitse schip de SSS Horst Wessel.
Opschrift: 2. Sieger im Kutterpullen I.V. 44. SSS Horst Wessel.
Diameter: 7 cm.
De SSS Horst Wessel was een Duits zeilschoolschip, gebouwd in 1936 voor de Kriegsmarine en vernoemd naar de nazi-martelaar Horst Wessel.
Het diende als opleidingsschip voor marineofficieren en was sterk verbonden met nationaalsocialistische propaganda.
Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het schip door de Amerikanen overgenomen en hernoemd tot USCGC Eagle.
Het wordt nog steeds gebruikt als trainingsschip voor de Amerikaanse kustwacht.
