Original WWII German Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939, known in German as the ‘Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse’.
The Iron Cross was re-instituted on 1 September 1939 and was an important German military decoration during the Second World War.
The obverse features a black core with a swastika in the center and the date ‘1939’ positioned at the bottom.
The reverse displays the date ‘1813’, referring to the original institution of the Iron Cross during the Napoleonic Wars.
The cross features a silver-colored ribbed inner frame and a smooth outer border surrounding the black core.
The upper section retains its suspension ring together with a section of the red, white and black ribbon associated with the Iron Cross 2nd Class.
The silver-colored frame shows clear traces of use and wear, as visible in the photographs.
A nice original example for a collection of German military awards, Wehrmacht militaria and Second World War decorations.

Origineel WWII Duits IJzeren Kruis 2de klasse 1939, in het Duits aangeduid als ‘Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse’

Het IJzeren Kruis werd op 1 september 1939 opnieuw ingesteld en was een belangrijke Duitse militaire onderscheiding tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De voorzijde is voorzien van een zwarte kern met centraal het hakenkruis en aan de onderzijde het jaartal ‘1939’.
Op de achterzijde staat het jaartal ‘1813’, een verwijzing naar de oorspronkelijke instelling van het IJzeren Kruis tijdens de Napoleontische oorlogen.
Het kruis is uitgevoerd met een zilverkleurig geribbeld binnenframe en een gladde buitenrand rondom de zwarte kern.
Aan de bovenzijde bevindt zich de ophangring met een stuk van het rood-wit-zwarte lint behorend bij het IJzeren Kruis 2de klasse.
Het zilverkleurige frame vertoont duidelijke gebruikssporen en slijtage, zoals zichtbaar op de foto’s.
Een mooi origineel exemplaar voor een verzameling Duitse onderscheidingen, Wehrmacht militaria en decoraties uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
