Deze Duitse Erkennungsmarke is in goede conditie en werd gedragen door een lid van de Grenadier-Ersatz und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 497 tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het Ersatz-Bataillon werd in april 1945 in Maagdenburg gemobiliseerd bij de oproep in Leuthen met veldpostnummer in het vervangende regiment 561. In het veldpostoverzicht wordt het vanaf 23 april 1945 aangeduid als Grenadier-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 497 met veldpostnummer 57294.
