Original German Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) badge from the period of the Third Reich. This round pin features a white enameled field with a central red cross, surrounded by a black ring bearing the inscription “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz – Schwesternhelferin.”
This type of insignia was worn by female auxiliaries who served within the German Red Cross as nurses or nursing assistants.
The outer edge is decorated with a patterned border and the badge is made of solid metal. The reverse features a horizontal pin-back fastening and is marked “GES. GESCH.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt), indicating that the design was legally protected at the time.
Schwesternhelferinnen played an important role during the Second World War in providing medical care to wounded soldiers and civilians, both in military hospitals and in supporting medical services.

Originele Duitse Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) badge uit de periode van het Derde Rijk. Deze ronde speld is uitgevoerd met een wit geëmailleerd veld met centraal het rode kruis, omringd door een zwarte ring met het opschrift “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz – Schwesternhelferin”. Dit type insigne werd gedragen door vrouwelijke hulpkrachten die binnen het Duitse Rode Kruis als verpleegkundige of verpleegkundige assistent werkzaam waren. De rand is voorzien van een decoratief patroon en het insigne heeft een solide metalen constructie. Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich een horizontale speldsluiting en de markering “GES. GESCH.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt), wat aangeeft dat het ontwerp destijds wettelijk beschermd was. Schwesternhelferinnen vervulden tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog een belangrijke rol binnen de medische verzorging van gewonde soldaten en burgers, zowel in militaire hospitalen als in ondersteunende medische diensten.
