Original WWII German DRK Deutsches Rotes Kreuz pin

This enamel DRK membership pin is in good condition, marked on the reverse and complete with functional pin.
The Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK), the German branch of the Red Cross, was completely subordinated to National Socialist ideology during the Third Reich.
Starting in 1933, the DRK was gradually transformed into a paramedic aid organization in the service of the regime.
In 1937 it lost its independence and was incorporated into the structure of the Nazi state, under the supervision of the SS and the Interior Ministry.
Although the DRK was formally part of the international Red Cross movement, under the Nazi regime it was mainly concerned with medical care for Wehrmacht soldiers, civilian assistance during bombing raids, and propaganda.
In many cases, DRK staff worked in conjunction with military and political institutions.

Deze geëmailleerde DRK ledenspeld is in goede conditie, gemarkeerd aan de achterzijde en compleet met functionele speld.
Het Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK), de Duitse tak van het Rode Kruis, werd tijdens het Derde Rijk volledig ondergeschikt gemaakt aan de nationaalsocialistische ideologie.
Vanaf 1933 werd het DRK geleidelijk omgevormd tot een paramedische hulporganisatie in dienst van het regime.
In 1937 verloor het zijn onafhankelijkheid en werd het opgenomen in de structuur van de nazi-staat, onder toezicht van de SS en het Binnenlandse Zaken ministerie.
Hoewel het DRK formeel deel uitmaakte van de internationale Rode Kruis-beweging, hield het zich onder het nazi-regime vooral bezig met medische zorg voor Wehrmacht-soldaten, civiele hulpverlening tijdens bombardementen, en propaganda.
In veel gevallen werkten DRK-medewerkers samen met militaire en politieke instellingen.
