Rare original WWII German Dienstausweis number 146, issued in 1941 by ‘Der Finanzinspekteur Krakau I’ in German-occupied Krakow.
The identification document belonged to Franz Schwakopf, born on 15 January 1881.
An original black-and-white identification photograph of Schwakopf in civilian clothing is attached to the inside.
His handwritten signature ‘Franz Schwakopf’ appears underneath the photograph.
According to the Dienstausweis, Franz Schwakopf was employed at ‘Steueramt I in Krakau’ at Weichselstrasse 7.
The Steueramt was a tax office within the German financial administration and the Dienstausweis records Schwakopf as being employed there.
The document was issued by ‘Der Finanzinspekteur Krakau I’, the financial inspection authority responsible for the respective tax administration.
The lower right section is marked ‘Der Finanzinspekteur Krakau I – Regierungsrat’, with ‘Regierungsrat’ referring to the official civil-service rank or title of the functionary who signed the document on behalf of the Finanzinspekteur.
The Dienstausweis was issued in Krakow on 17 January 1941 and bears the handwritten signature of this Regierungsrat.
Several official circular service stamps appear across the interior, including impressions partially extending over the identification photograph and document.
The front is prominently marked ‘DER FINANZINSPEKTEUR KRAKAU I’ and ‘DIENSTAUSWEIS’.
In 1941 Krakow was located in German-occupied Poland and served as the administrative capital of the General Government.
The combination of Franz Schwakopf’s name, his date of birth of 15 January 1881, photograph, signature, Dienstausweis number 146, employment at Steueramt I, the Weichselstrasse 7 address and issue date of 17 January 1941 makes this a well-documented personal historical document.
The Ausweis remains in used condition with clear traces of carrying and storage.

De identiteitskaart behoorde toe aan Franz Schwakopf, geboren op 15 januari 1881.
Op de binnenzijde bevindt zich zijn originele zwart-wit pasfoto, waarop Schwakopf in burgerkleding is afgebeeld.
Onder de foto staat zijn handgeschreven handtekening ‘Franz Schwakopf’.
Volgens de tekst van de Dienstausweis was Franz Schwakopf werkzaam bij het ‘Steueramt I in Krakau’ aan Weichselstrasse 7.
Het Steueramt was een belastingkantoor binnen de Duitse financiële administratie en Schwakopf was hier volgens deze Dienstausweis als medewerker in dienst.
Het document werd afgegeven door ‘Der Finanzinspekteur Krakau I’, de financiële inspectiedienst waaronder het betreffende belastingkantoor ressorteerde.
Rechtsonder staat ‘Der Finanzinspekteur Krakau I – Regierungsrat’, waarbij ‘Regierungsrat’ de ambtelijke rang of functietitel aanduidt van de functionaris die het document namens de Finanzinspekteur heeft ondertekend.
De Dienstausweis werd op 17 januari 1941 in Krakau afgegeven en is voorzien van de handtekening van deze Regierungsrat.
Over de binnenzijde bevinden zich meerdere officiële ronde dienststempels, waaronder afdrukken die gedeeltelijk over de pasfoto en het document lopen.
De voorzijde draagt de duidelijke opschriften ‘DER FINANZINSPEKTEUR KRAKAU I’ en ‘DIENSTAUSWEIS’.
Krakau bevond zich in 1941 in het door Duitsland bezette Polen en fungeerde als bestuurszetel van het Generalgouvernement.
