Original WWII German brochure ‘Warum und wofür kämpfen wir?’

Original German propaganda brochure from Second World War, titled “Warum und wofür kämpfen wir?” (Why and what are we fighting for?), published by the Aufklärungsdienst zur Reichsverteidigung as part of the Wehrpolitische Schriftenreihe series, Heft 1.
This publication was intended to ideologically influence soldiers and civilians and to justify the German war effort.

The cover features a striking propaganda illustration of a German soldier breaking through the alleged “encirclement” of Germany by hostile powers.
Inside, the brochure contains extensive text and imagery presenting the German perspective on the outbreak of the war, including strong anti-British propaganda and criticism of Winston Churchill, Neville Chamberlain and Anthony Eden.
Events surrounding Poland, England and international politics are described from a German viewpoint, supplemented with photographs and speeches, including an image of Hitler in the Reichstag.

The brochure remains in neat, original condition with light signs of age and use consistent with its period.

Originele Duitse propaganda brochure uit de vroege Tweede Wereldoorlog, getiteld “Warum und wofür kämpfen wir?” (Waarom en waarvoor vechten wij?), uitgegeven door de Aufklärungsdienst zur Reichsverteidigung binnen de reeks Wehrpolitische Schriftenreihe, Heft 1. Deze uitgave was bedoeld om soldaten en burgers ideologisch te beïnvloeden en het Duitse oorlogsdoel te rechtvaardigen.
De omslag toont een krachtige propagandatekening van een Duitse soldaat die de vermeende “omsingeling” van Duitsland door vijandige machten doorbreekt, een typische visuele boodschap uit de beginfase van de oorlog.
Binnenin bevat de brochure uitgebreide tekst en beeldmateriaal waarin de Duitse visie op het uitbreken van de oorlog wordt gepresenteerd, met sterke anti-Britse propaganda en kritiek op Winston Churchill, Neville Chamberlain en Anthony Eden.
