Original WWII German Bescheinigung – Occupied Warsaw Poland
50 €
Original WWII German ‘Bescheinigung’ (certificate of employment) from occupied Poland, issued to Zdzisław Stepczynski.
The document includes a pasted passport photo of the card holder, an adult man wearing glasses, described as ‘Büroangestellter’ (office clerk).
It lists the Arbeitskarte No. 019/064200 and the firm ‘Bolesław Borkowski, właśc.: Zofia Gołębiowska i S.ka Sp. z o.o.’, a Kohlengrosshandlung (coal trading company).
The text states that, due to the importance of the coal supply for the city of Warschau, the holder could not be withdrawn from his place of work without consultation with the Arbeitsamt.
The document is validated until 31 December 1943 and carries several purple company stamps and signatures.
At the bottom it also bears the designation ‘Distriktsfachgruppe Kohlen- u. Baustoffhandel’ with an accompanying stamp and the signature of the Geschäftsführer.
The German occupation authorities tightly regulated the Polish labour market, using work cards and certificates such as this one to tie workers to their employment.
Coal was an essential fuel for both the population and industry, which meant workers in the coal trade could be granted a special status within the occupation system.
An interesting collectible for collectors of German occupation documents from Poland and Second World War militaria.
