Original WWII Dutch SS photo ‘Funeral of Seyffardt’ Den Haag

The photo is in good condition and was taken in The Hague (Binnenhof) during the funeral of Hendrik Seyffardt, the commander of the Dutch SS volunteer legion.
On February 5, 1943 he was killed by members of the Dutch resistance.
In his honor, a unit of Dutch SS volunteers on the Eastern Front was renamed 48. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Regiment General Seyffardt. Seijffardt’s death was also one of the reasons for the large-scale German repression in the occupied Netherlands from 1943 onwards, Aktion Silbertanne.

Originele WWII Nederlandse SS foto ‘Begrafenis Seyffardt’

De foto is in goede conditie en werd genomen in Den Haag tijdens de begrafenis van Hendrik Seyffardt, de commandant van het Nederlandse SS vrijwilligers legioen.
Op 5 februari 1943 werd hij vermoord door leden van het Nederlandse verzet.
Ter ere van hem werd een eenheid Nederlandse SS-vrijwilligers aan het Oostfront omgedoopt tot 48. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Regiment Generaal Seyffardt.
De dood van Seijffardt was ook een van de redenen voor de grootschalige Duitse repressie in bezet Nederland vanaf 1943, Aktion Silbertanne.
