Original WWII Dutch ‘Prinses Irene Brigade’ insignia

This shoulder patch of the Princess Irene Brigade is in good condition and was manufactured in England in 1944.
The patch shows an orange Dutch lion holding a sword and a bundle of arrows, with the inscription “Nederland” underneath.
It was worn on the uniform of the soldiers of the Princess Irene Brigade, a Dutch unit that fought alongside the Allies from Great Britain during the Second World War.
The patch is made of a khaki-green woolen background with machine-embroidered orange stitching.
The Princess Irene Brigade took part in the fighting after the Normandy landings in August 1944.
The brigade fought at Pont Audemer and Beringen, and played an important role in the liberation of Tilburg in October 1944.
In addition, the unit was active in other parts of North Brabant and Gelderland, where it contributed to the liberation of the Netherlands.

Dit schouderembleem van de Prinses Irene Brigade is in goede conditie en werd vervaardigd in Engeland in 1944.
Het embleem toont een oranje Nederlandse leeuw met zwaard en pijlenbundel, met daaronder het opschrift “Nederland”.
Het werd gedragen op het uniform van de militairen van de Prinses Irene Brigade, een Nederlandse eenheid die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog vanuit Groot-Brittannië streed aan de zijde van de geallieerden.
Het embleem bestaat uit een Khaki-groen wollen ondergrond met machinale oranje borduring.
De Prinses Irene Brigade nam deel aan de gevechten na de landing in Normandië in augustus 1944.
De brigade vocht onder meer bij Pont Audemer en Beringen, en speelde een belangrijke rol tijdens de bevrijding van Tilburg in oktober 1944.
Daarnaast was de eenheid actief in andere delen van Noord-Brabant en Gelderland, waar zij bijdroeg aan de bevrijding van Nederland.
