Original WWII Dutch prime minister grouping Hendrikus Colijn

This set comes from the Dutch Prime Minister Hendrikus Colijn.

Hendrikus Colijn was born on June 22, 1869 in Burgerveen and was the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Five Cabinets in the period 1925 to 1926 and 1933 to 1939.

He was also still in his position at the beginning of the occupation period in the Netherlands.
In 1940 the Dutch government fled to the United Kingdom after the Netherlands was occupied by the Germans.
Colijn condemned this flight in sharp terms.
He expressed his views in a brochure entitled On the Border of Two Worlds, which appeared in print in mid-July 1940.
In it he called for accepting the reality of the German force majeure.

He later changed his views when the Germans banned his ARP with the other parties. He wanted nothing to do with the Dutch Union, and he increasingly supported the resistance against the Germans.

In 1941 Colijn was imprisoned by the Germans as a result of his support for the resistance, initially in Valkenburg in Limburg, later in Nazi Germany, first in Berlin and then in Hotel Gabelbach in Ilmenau (Thuringia), where he and his family wife resided and enjoyed a great deal of freedom. He even had contact with high-ranking Nazis here.

On September 18, 1944, Hendrikus Colijn died in German captivity from heart failure.

Originele WWII Nederlandse set minister-president Hendrikus Colijn 

Deze set is afkomstig van de Nederlandse minister-president Hendrikus Colijn.

Hendrikus Colijn werd geboren op 22 juni 1869 in Burgerveen en was de minister-president van Nederland vijfkabinetten in de periode 1925 to 1926 en 1933 tot 1939.

Tevens zat hij in het begin van de bezettingsperiode in Nederland nog op zijn functie.
In 1940 vluchtte de Nederlandse regering naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk nadat Nederland werd bezet door de Duitsers. Colijn veroordeelde deze vlucht in scherpe bewoordingen.
Hij verwoordde zijn standpunten in een brochure getiteld Op de grens van twee werelden, die half juli 1940 in druk verscheen. Hij riep daarin op de realiteit van de Duitse overmacht te aanvaarden.

Hij wijzigde zijn standpunten later weer, toen de Duitsers zijn ARP met de andere partijen verboden. Met de Nederlandsche Unie wilde hij niets te maken hebben, en hij steunde steeds meer het verzet tegen de Duitsers.

In 1941 werd Colijn als gevolg van zijn steun aan het verzet door de Duitsers gevangengezet, in eerste instantie in het Limburgse Valkenburg, later in Nazi-Duitsland, eerst in Berlijn en vervolgens in Hotel Gabelbach te Ilmenau (Thüringen), waar hij samen met zijn vrouw verbleef en een grote mate van vrijheid genoot. Zelfs had hij hier contact met hoge nazi’s.
Op 18 september 1944 overleed Hendrikus Colijn in Duits gevangenschap door een hartverlamming.
