This Dutch photograph is in good condition, dates from May 1940 and it shows a damaged Dutch Casemate (Kazemat) bunker.

A casemate is a concrete defense bunker built as part of military defense lines, especially during World War I and World War II.
Casemates provided protection for soldiers and armaments against artillery fire and air attacks.
They were often strategically placed near bridges, rivers and lines such as the IJssel Line or the Grebel Line.
Unfortunately, it is unclear to us at what exact location in the Netherlands this photo was taken.

Deze Nederlandse foto is in goede conditie, dateert uit mei 1940 en daarop is een beschadigde Nederlandse Kazemat bunker op te zien.

Een kazemat is een betonnen verdedigingsbunker die werd gebouwd als onderdeel van militaire verdedigingslinies, met name tijdens de Eerste en Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Kazematten boden bescherming aan soldaten en bewapening tegen artillerievuur en luchtaanvallen.
Ze stonden vaak strategisch opgesteld bij bruggen, rivieren en linies zoals de IJssellinie of de Grebbelinie.
Het is voor ons helaas onduidelijk op welke exacte locatie in Nederland deze foto genomen werd.
