The NSB in Apeldoorn during World War II
In Apeldoorn, the National Socialist Movement (NSB) had a relatively visible presence during the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940–1945). The city held strategic importance due to its government institutions and proximity to royal properties like Palace Het Loo. The NSB aimed to exert political and social influence through local government, schools, and youth organizations.
Some NSB members in Apeldoorn collaborated with the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) and other German authorities, playing a role in the betrayal of Jews, resistance fighters, and people in hiding.
The NSB also helped organize propaganda events in the city.
After the liberation, the NSB was quickly disbanded, and arrests, purges, and trials of collaborators followed in Apeldoorn.

De NSB in Apeldoorn tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog
In Apeldoorn had de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB) een relatief zichtbare aanwezigheid tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland (1940–1945). De stad, met haar overheidsinstellingen en nabijheid van koninklijke gebouwen zoals Paleis Het Loo, had strategische waarde.
De NSB probeerde er politieke en maatschappelijke invloed uit te oefenen, onder meer via lokale besturen, scholen en jeugdorganisaties.
In Apeldoorn werkten sommige NSB’ers samen met de Sicherheitsdienst (SD) en andere Duitse instanties, en waren betrokken bij het verraden van Joden, verzetsleden en onderduikers.
Ook speelde de NSB een rol in het organiseren van propaganda-evenementen en bijeenkomsten in de stad.
Na de bevrijding werd de NSB snel ontbonden en volgden arrestaties, zuiveringen en rechtszaken tegen collaborateurs in Apeldoorn.
