Max Blokzijl

Max Blokzijl (1884–1946) was a Dutch journalist, singer, and collaborator during World War II.
Before the war, he worked as a correspondent in Germany and was known for his pro-German stance.
During the German occupation of the Netherlands, he became head of the Press Department at the Ministry of Public Information and the Arts. In this role, he was responsible for Nazi propaganda in the Netherlands and gave radio speeches supporting the German occupiers while attacking the resistance.
After the liberation, Blokzijl was arrested, tried, and became one of the first prominent collaborators in the Netherlands to be sentenced to death. He was executed on March 16, 1946.

Max Blokzijl

Max Blokzijl (1884–1946) was een Nederlandse journalist, zanger en collaborateur tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Voor de oorlog werkte hij als correspondent in Duitsland en stond bekend om zijn pro-Duitse houding.
Tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland werd hij hoofd van de afdeling Perswezen van het Ministerie van Volksvoorlichting en Kunsten.
In die functie was hij verantwoordelijk voor de nazistische propaganda in Nederland en hield hij radiotoespraken waarin hij de Duitse bezetter steunde en tegen het verzet fulmineerde.
Na de bevrijding werd Blokzijl gearresteerd, berecht en als een van de eerste collaborerende prominenten in Nederland ter dood veroordeeld. Hij werd geëxecuteerd op 16 maart 1946.
